In the current environment, it is normal to feel more stressed and anxious than usual—not just for ourselves but also for our family and friends. Worrying about our loved ones whether local or living interstate and especially for those overseas; the feeling of powerlessness must be overwhelming for some; especially if you have a history of trauma

Most are understandably concerned about coronavirus. The impact it is having on our health within the community is unprecedented and extraordinary. And with the rapid changes we’re all encountering daily, it’s hard to keep up with the evolving developments.

It is imperative that we follow the guidelines and take care of our own health, which in turn also helps to take care of others by not spreading possible infection. But let’s not ignore the equal importance of our mental health and well-being.

To look after our mental health, it is important to activate your support network, acknowledge your feelings of distress and concern about the future—talk about it with others.

Here’s a few tips to help you cope:

  • Get Into a Routine and Make a Daily Schedule.
  • Take a break from the news and social media.
  • Engage in self-care with good healthy food, adequate rest and sleep.
  • Get some exercise daily.
  • Practice mindfulness, and/or meditation and relaxation.
  • Connect with family, friends and loved ones regularly.
  • Breathe deeply in your belly.
  • Learn to tolerate uncertainty.
  • Talk with a professional.

For those of you who are already managing their mental health issues, please continue to do so, and to monitor any new symptoms. For those who have had counselling in the past and are not currently coping please consider seeking professional support.

Our counsellors are unable to continue to provide face-to-face counselling at present but will be conducting all counselling sessions online until further notice.

Lynda  and Heather are offering 1 hour online sessions for $80 instead of normal fee of $140, for all new and current clients, to help those who are struggling financially and need someone to talk to. BOOK HERE
