hairPower struggles with your kids?

Wanting the relationship with them you dreamed of?

Feeling at a loss of what to do?

Love allows children to grow through their mistakes.

Logic allows them to live with the consequences of their choices.

Love and Logic InstituteTM has been established for over 30 years.

Learn the LOVE and LOGIC of parenting to achieve more of what you want.

Belinda and Lesley will show you how to:

  • Build a strong relationship with your children as they grow

  • Teach inner resilience and self-responsibility for when they leave the house

  • Get children to contribute to household chores without arguments

  • Stop children from bickering with each other

  • Avoid unwinnable power struggles that wear you out

  • And many other day to day parenting challenges.

To illustrate this approach

How do you handle children when they are forgetful, or irresponsible?

Imagine this common scenario:

Your child is leaving for school and you notice they have left their lunch sitting on the kitchen bench – and this isn’t the first time. What do you do?

Scenario 1 – You run out the door and chase after them?

Or you drive it up to the school if they’ve already left?

  • What are the natural consequences for your child when you fix their problem? None
  • What are your consequences? Feeling annoyed, resentful and frustrated and loss of your time.
  • What does your child learn from this? If I forget things, Mum/Dad will remember and fix it.
  • And what message does it send to them? I need Mum and Dad to do my thinking for me. I don’t have the tools or ability to do this for myself.

Scenario 2 – You do nothing. You are actually excited about this opportunity for them to begin relying on their own thinking and problem solving skills by making mistakes whilst the price tag is low. As they get older, the price tag of their mistakes gets bigger every day.

If they contact you for a solution once they are at school, this is now a fantastic opportunity to hand their problem back, with love and perhaps some ideas on how they can manage and address this.

  • What might be some natural consequences for your child when you use this approach? Miss out on having their lunch. Feeling uncomfortable in asking for help. Become motivated to not let this happen again. Develop some problem solving skills and be proud of themselves for this.
  • What might be your consequences? Feel guilty and negligent and worry what others will say or think. Feel anxious, worrying about how your child will get through the day. Feel relief of handing back the problem, knowing that this will be good for them in the long term. Have more time to get on and do other things that you need to do.
  • What does your child learn from this? Resilience, problem solving skills, independence and responsibility.
  • And what message does it send to them? I am capable and resilient and Mum and Dad believe in my abilities.

In this workshop we will show you how to address and manage this type of situation and many others, using the principles and strategies of  Love and LogicTM.
