Hypnotherapy & NLP

Hypnosis is often referred to as the fast track therapy as it gets you the results you want in the shortest time. Most single issues are improved in the first session and often resolved in 3-6 sessions. If you are:

  • experiencing self-sabotaging behaviour?
  • feeling anxious, in pain, blocked or stuck?
  • feeling as if something is not quite right?
  • despite your best efforts it’s still not working?

You’ve come to the right place. Hypnosis utilises the power of the sub-conscious mind to break through all these issues.

Most problems are relieved in 3-6 sessions and you should start to feel better after 1 session

Hypnosis harnesses the power of your subconscious mind to eliminate limiting beliefs and obstacles to success. It is used successfully to:

  • stop habits or treat compulsions
  • improve your confidence
  • reduce stress and anxiety
  • improve health
  • relieve pain
  • achieve a personal goal

Hypnosis in a nutshell

Thoughts produce feelings which are transmitted to the body, thus creating a iStock_000011291378Mediumphysical experience and a connected belief in the mind, which when repeated over time form a habit, characteristic or attitude.

Hypnosis FAQ

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the process of using deep relaxation  to communicate with the subconscious mind  to facilitate positive change in your life. Hypnotherapy is a short term solution focused therapy. Most problem are resolved within 3-6 sessions. Unlike most talk therapies we do not excessively delve into the past to over analyse issues. We focus on the present moment and how to create a solution. During hypnosis, your body relaxes and your thoughts become more focused. Like other relaxation techniques, hypnosis lowers blood pressure and heart rate, and changes certain types of brain wave activity. In this relaxed state, you will feel at ease physically yet fully awake mentally, and you may be highly responsive to suggestion. Your conscious mind becomes less alert and your subconscious mind becomes more focused. Some people respond better to hypnotic suggestion than others. No one can make you do something against your true will.

What does Hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis is a very pleasant feeling of natural, deep physical and mental relaxation.  You certainly will not be asleep or unconscious. Hypnosis accesses natural low alpha-theta brainwave, a mental state that opens up enhanced awareness and imaging allowing for perception and understanding beyond the narrower spectrum we refer to as ‘ordinary’. Hypnotic brainwaves are in an awakened state, although some people lose track of the room completely, others, will remain aware of everything that is going on in the room.  Often people describe the process as in and out of awareness.

How does Hypnotherapy work?

Most of us are familiar with the mind triggering a physiological response such as the heart racing when hearing a police siren when driving slightly too fast, or mistaking a stick for a snake. Perhaps you have a fear or phobia which can be triggered by a memory or thought.
This is how it works- our emotional brain (limbic system) records and stores every experience from the womb through to adulthood either consciously or subconsciously. Family patterns and life experience positive or negative affect how we think, feel and respond now. Emotional responses are transmitted to the body the autonomic nervous system, which releases biochemical and electrical messages into the bloodstream.
Mind body interactions are circular in nature-each affecting the other in both directions. The lower brain stem control centres, which serve as relay stations of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems regulate our responses (fight or flight). This network of communication can increase blood pressure, control body temperature, regulate blood flow, increase or decrease salivation and gastrointestinal activity, cause bladder emptying and sexual orgasm. Therefore all organs can respond psychosomatic. Neuron pathways are created in the brain determined by emotional responses to life events and we develop learned patterns of behavior which we continually re enact. These patterns are held in memory; firmly held patterns create habits, and beliefs. Yet all firmly held beliefs where once a new idea, and doubt-able. Therefore all neuron pathways can be changed. Change your mind and change your bodily response.

In a nutshell:
Thoughts produce feelings which create a belief in the mind, which when repeated forms a habit or  attitude, this directly influences our behaviour contributing to our success or failure

Can everyone be hypnotised?

The simple answer is yes – if you have the capacity to focus your mind and relax then you can be hypnotised. Most people need a little help in the form of a guided hypnosis session which is personalised to you and the issue you are wanting help with.

People sometimes worry that they won’t be hypnotised because of excessive mental chatter or an over-analytical mind. Successful hypnosis is more about shifting your focus.  I often tell people that you should think of this like a radio or an Ipod.  You want to turn up the volume on the relaxation experience, and turn down the volume of what is happening in your mind or the room. You can also set an intention that any extraneous sounds that you hear in the room, will take you deeper into the hypnotic process.

Sometimes people expect hypnosis to be or feel a certain way – often feeling as if they weren’t really hypnotised because they were aware of what was happening. Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness but it is NOT sleep – so expect to be awake but more relaxed than usual.

Often people who aren’t visual may feel that nothing much happened. However, if you review your experience, you may find that many things actually happened just in non-visual ways.  Did you smell anything?  Feel anything in your body?  Did you hear anything? Often people sense something or just know what is going on without seeing or experiencing anything directly.

Depletion – sometimes our bodies are so weary we want to sleep and this can hinder the process as we want the alpha-theta brainwaves for healing and hypnosis not delta sleep brainwaves. Please ensure you allow time for sleep and restoration for best results.

Intention is what leads you into and helps you to stay focused on your healing journey.

What are your fees?

The real cost is keeping your current situation as it is. If you continue to do the same thing, you’ll get the same results. This can lead to more discomfort or feeling worse, cost you thousands of $, or cost you in wasted time, health decline, or further misery. Continuing the behaviour, or feeling the same way and possibly getting worse,  unhealthy life choices, or unhappy / failed relationships and missed opportunities.

So what are you willing to invest in solving your problem?
The first 20 minutes of your initial consultation is FREE (save $50), either via phone or face to face. If you feel I can help you, stay for the full treatment. This is a good opportunity for both of us to see if we can work together.

The first hypnotherapy session is 1.5 – 2 hours ($185 – $250) so we can assess your situation, explore the issues, make a plan and give you your first hypnotic session. I want you to walk out of the first session feeling better, and knowing things can change and that we have a plan of action. The second session is usually 75 – 90 mins ($185- $225) and subsequent sessions 60-75 mins ($150-185).

Many clients take advantage of pre-paid package sessions to save more money and invest time and effort in themselves. Most clients find a resolution within 3-6 sessions.

I love my counselling and hypnotherapy sessions with Heather at the Lotus Centre. They have been a vital aspect of my emotional and spiritual health throughout my cancer treatments and healing process.

My family and friends are always commenting on my positive attitude throughout the toughest time in my life, and I believe that Heather has been a big contributing factor as she has helped me channel the bravest, strongest and most positive part of myself. I always leave these sessions with a fresh, positive and upbeat outlook on my life, the universe and upcoming challenges.

Just wanted to say, how apprehensive I was before the hypnotherapy for smoking cessation began, but realised after only 2 sessions with Heather , that it really does work, and how painless, and stress free it was to stop smoking. A month later, I feel like I can breathe again and my physical health is very much improved.
