What to expect from Quit Smoking Hypnosis
First session: Most people chose to quit on this first session, having done most of the planning before. I will call you to discuss the planning stage and email you information to help you prepare. However you can use the first session to make a plan, build motivation and prepare.
On the first session we will discuss how you plan to ‘surf the urge’ to smoke, coping strategies, resources and alternative thinking. My preference is to just quit ‘cold turkey’ as it’s quicker easier, and causes less suffering in the long run however it’s up to you. You may prefer nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) or prescribed medication such as champix or zyban if you are a heavy smoker and there is an assessment which will help with this decision. Make sure you ask or inquire about side effects to any NRT or prescribed medication before use.
Day 1: After one day of quitting, you’ve saved $16 . the first day is usually the easiest as motivation is high and your well prepared. Most of the nicotine is cleared from your body. Your blood pressure and heart rate drop towards normal levels. Well done, continue to make this journey as easy as possible with relaxation and hypnosis or homeopathic remedies.
After three days you’ve saved $48. It takes just 2-3 days ‘cold turkey’ to detox from the nicotine addiction cycle. You notice that your skin, hair and breath smell fresher. Less carbon monoxide in your system means your lungs are more efficient. Congratulations there is zero nicotine in your system.
Second session is usually scheduled at day 4 to 7 to support and encourage you. We will look at how you’ve coped, what other support strategies you may need and use hypnosis to help you keep going over the next few weeks.
