Counsellor

Talking, feeling, thinking, listening therapy …
Wondering about whether you “need” counselling, and what would happen in a counselling session can be pretty stressful and sometimes confusing.
What happens? As well as talking, a counselling session is also about thinking and feeling and sometimes listening. It’s sitting with someone who can help you to become aware of thoughts and feelings more clearly, and of how they’re affecting your life – and doing that in a safe and empowering way. When you’re more aware, it becomes easier to figure out how to make changes – if that’s what you want to do – and you have someone who can help you to do that. It’s like a journey … with a supportive and expert person by your side.
Debbie’s counselling methodology is mainly person-centred – the person is supported to explore and understand her or himself, and their place in the world; they are also encouraged to take a position of power in the therapy. She also uses some mindfulness practices.
Who does it help? Counselling of any sort can help you to sort out relationships; to become less stressed, less anxious, less depressed; and to deal with major life upheavals.
